Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken are award winning  photographers who teach amateur and professional photographers about photographing the  New Zealand landscape. 

Based in Queenstown, they run 5 hour Photo Safaris to Paradise valley, the Rees Valley, The Nevis valley and Skippers Canyon.

Mackenzie Country

Travelling on the secluded back roads in the heart of the Mackenzie highlands you will photograph streams, ponds, trees while being surrounded by surreal man-made landscapes.

This Basin has a unique character with a mix of man-made structures and landscapes that are surrounded by the magnificent Southern Alps.

Mike or Jackie will take you on a fantastic photographic experience. Discovering unique and unusual ways of making landscape photographs that will belong on a gallery wall. This is a great opportunity for photographers as all levels to push their creative boundaries and take away knowledge that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

 Both are Grand Masters of the NZIPP and AIPP Photography Institutes. 

On this Photo Safari we travel from Twizel to explore many destinations found in Mackenzie District, Canturbury.

Stopping to photograph all sorts of subjects along the way. This experience is about learning how to take control of your camera and learning about photographic composition.

Your tutors Mike Langford or Jackie Ranken will help you take your camera off automatic to fully utilise your camera’s in-camera creative capabilities. You will go away knowing how to use your camera in more experimental ways. 

The day is spent photographing in places suited to the weather conditions, allowing you the time to learn and to express your own vision. Having an expert photographer on hand to receive constructive and appropriate feedback is an invaluable aspect of the experience. This is a learning experience with two of New Zealand’s most experienced photographers. 

Canon EOS 80D or the mirrorless EOS R cameras available for use.

Departure times can be customised to suit your photographic goals.

Pickup and drop back to your accommodation.
